Our California division, located in Huntington Beach seeks a Manufacturing Engineer (Automation Focus).
Summary
Overall responsibility of developing new automation projects from initial idea to full completion as well as optimization of existing automation systems. This includes the full design in SolidWorks (3D CAD and drawings), component selection (robots, grippers, conveyors, sensors, PLC, etc.), managing component manufacturing/ assembly, wiring of sensors and programming (PLC, vision system and robotics). This position drives continuous improvement through innovative engineering solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing new ideas for continuous improvement through automation to increase manufacturing efficiency
- Developing new automation systems from initial idea to full completion
- Design of new automation in SolidWorks, including a full 3D CAD assembly and 2D drawings for manufacturing of any custom components required
- Selection of automation components (including Fanuc robots, vision systems, grippers, conveyors, electrical components, sensors, PLC, pneumatic components, etc.)
- Managing the manufacturing and assembly process of the automation system
- Wiring of all 24V electrical components required for the automation project (sensors, relays, communication between CNC equipment and PLC or robot, etc.)
- Programming of PLCs (Allan Bradley), robots (Fanuc) and vision systems
- Optimization of existing automation equipment by upgrading components
- Troubleshooting of issues with existing automation equipment
Qualifications, Education, Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience with manufacturing automation and robotics.
- Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with 3D CAD Software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Experience with PLC programming (preferably Allan Bradly)
- Experience with robotics programming (preferably Fanuc)
- Experience with vision systems is a plus
- Experience with pneumatics (Cylinders, Valves, etc.)
